God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Purposes

God has ordained the purposes for which every church exists. We attempt to capture those purposes in three clear statements: CHBC exists to Equip Believers, Exalt Christ, and Extend the Gospel. Extending the Gospel is a mission of the church, and a command to every believer. Every Christian is to, “Go therefore.” What are we to go and do, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20).

Prayers and Support for Israel

Continue to pray for Israel. Consider how to minister in Israel. Watch this video from the president of Send Relief, a ministry of the North American and International Mission Boards: You Can Meet Needs in the Holy Land. You can also watch this video of chapel services at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary between Al Mohler, and other faculty: How Should Christians Think About The Attack Upon Israel? God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Purposes

God has ordained the purposes for which every church exists. We attempt to capture those purposes in three clear statements: CHBC exists to Equip Believers, Exalt Christ, and Extend the Gospel. Exalting Christ is much more than singing during worship services. A believer’s life is to be oriented toward Jesus Christ in the motives, actions, words, and thoughts. Colossian 3:23, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,”. This is a good verse you can meditate on today, as you consider whether or not you are exalting Christ.

How Can I Pray for Israel?
We are hearing all kinds of confusing reports coming from the war Israel has declared against Hamas. There are tragic images, and terrifying reports. There are conflicting reports about who is doing what, and who is at fault for the violence. We can say unequivocally that terrorism is never legitimate, and that violence against civilians is not war, but murder. We can also be bold in our prayers for the people who live in Israel and Gaza who are victims of these tragic and escalating events. We can pray for Israel. Here are two resources to help you navigate your emotions, and help you pray. First is a video of a conversation that took place during chapel services at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary between Al Mohler, and other faculty: How Should Christians Think About The Attack Upon Israel? The other is a prayer guide produced by the Southern Baptist Convention: 5 Ways to Pray for Israel.
