IDOP – International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church
This Sunday morning, we will spend some time thinking about and praying for brothers and sisters in Christ around the world that face religious persecution. We have direct contact with people who serve persecuted Christians overseas, and who have family members living in countries of persecution. We also face the threat in our own country and in our own lifetime of seeing religious persecution. As faithful followers of Christ we need to be aware and prayerful of religious persecution.

CHBC Re-Gathering – November 8, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.

This year we have learned what many in other countries experience on a regular basis – limited gatherings for worship. We have been reminded of how much we miss gathered worship, how much we need the body of Christ, and how important the family of faith is to our lives.

If you gather with us in person know that we are physically distancing and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering in order to protect others. Please RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP.  If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

Sunday School
CHBC is currently Re-Grouping into Sunday School. Each class begins at 9 AM. You can read the Re-Grouping Plan for Sunday School here: CHBC Sunday School Re-Grouping. There are some changes to where groups meet, so please read the plan carefully. We will continue to send you links to use on your own at your home as well. You can find those below:

Quotes from Church History
Jim Elliot: as written in his person journal, “'He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot (1927-1956, Missionary and Martyr)

Prayer
Pray for those who today are imprisoned or dying for the cause of Christ. Pray for the families and churches of men and women being persecuted and martyred today for living faithfully for Jesus.

Hebrews 11:37-38

“They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented 38 (people of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts, on mountains, and sheltering in caves and holes in the ground.”

Angel Tree
Angel Tree is a ministry started by Chuck Colson and Prison Fellowship to provide Christmas presents to the children of people who are incarcerated. The point of Angel Tree is to keep a bridge between the incarcerated parent and their children, while sharing the gospel with both the prisoner and the child. Prison Fellowship has requirements for inmates to qualify and works with the caregivers of the children. We will host and Angel Tree this year instead of assisting with Samaritan’s Purse. Watch this video to learn more: Angel Tree

Thanksgiving Banquet
We will not be hosting our annual Thanksgiving Banquet this year. After evaluating necessary safety measures, potential drop in attendance, and the cost of meal prep it was determined it was best to delay this banquet and wait for an opportunity in the future to have a large fellowship meal together. God bless you during your own and your family Thanksgiving celebrations.

Fall Back 1 Hour
This Saturday night before you go to bed do not forget to set your clocks back one hour as Daylight Savings Time will end at 2 AM. We want you to be ready at the right time for Lord’s Day Worship.

Greet and Treat
This is our 15th year to do Greet and Treat. Greet and Treat is a way for CHBC to use the night of Halloween to be in our neighborhoods sharing the good news of Christ. We have put together outreach bags for your family to take around with you. These bags will be available on Sunday morning following the AM Worship Service. While many children in our neighborhoods are going to Trick or Treat, we will be going to homes ready to answer the door so we can Greet and Treat. Many of us will also be ready to receive children and families as they walk the neighborhood. Pastor Mark’s home will serve popcorn, hot chocolate, and have games to play as we hand out information about the gospel and the church. How will you Greet and Treat this year?

CHBC Re-Gathering – November 1, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.

The church gathers for worship. Worship is not just singing songs together. Worship is our response of obedience to Christ’s commands. Therefore, our worship includes those things we outline within our purpose statement. We are equipped in knowing God, His will, and His ways through Bible study. We exalt Christ as we make Him the focus of our attention, and as we see Him as the fountainhead to all our needs. We worship as we obey the Great Commandment and Great Commission in extending the gospel to our neighbors and the nations. Worship is not a Sunday activity. We gather on Sundays to worship Jesus Christ as Lord. But worship does not end when we leave.

If you gather with us in person know that we are physically distancing and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering in order to protect others. Please RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). Quotes from Church History
Martin Luther: is credited with saying this at the Diet of Worms, “I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God. Amen.” – Martin Luther (1483-1546, German Minister and father of the Protestant Reformation)

Prayer
Pray boldly for what you know to be God’s will. Nothing stands between you and God, other than our Savior who is there only as our mediator.

Romans 8:37-39

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
