If your email inbox and social media accounts are anything like mine, they are flooded with information.  I am getting daily information from my kids two different schools, I am receiving work information, sales ads, health updates, news media reports, and church updates.  In fact some of you have already deleted this email, or stopped reading to look for the bold print or link to click. 

If you are still reading, then take note of this. Around the world divorces are on the rise, crisis hotline calls are skyrocketing, alcohol, drug, and pornography use are all on the rise. Crisis and stress drive us to God or away from God. James 1:2-4, “² Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, ³ knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. ⁴ And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

If you have been thinking that this shelter-at-home time is a good opportunity for you to re-connect with God, or to deepen your relationship with God, then do not let the window close before you get started. As discussions have begun on “getting back to normal”, we should be thankful and excited, but do not let “normal” rob you of you the opportunity for renewed spiritual intentionality. I am including a couple of resources to encourage your discipleship, and to help you keep thinking about how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted us spiritually.

Sunday School
Do not lose the habit of Sunday School! Get up, get ready for church, gather your Bible, your spouse or children, if you do not live alone, and use one of these materials to have Sunday School at 9 AM.   Take a moment to send an email, a text, make a phone call, or get on Zoom and touch base with others from your Sunday School Class. Share prayer requests, pray together, and then tune in at 10:15 for Facebook Live for worship.

Prayer
Take 5 minutes right now and pray for people in your Sunday School Class. Use your mind to work your way around the room, and as you see faces, say a prayer for them. When you are done, pick up your phone and send a text to let them know you prayed for them today.

Give Online

Have you set up giving online? Have you had trouble scheduling your gifts to be recurring? Please reach out to the church office if you need help. Tithes and offerings can be made by mailing in your check, dropping off your tithe at the church office during normal office hours (8:30-4:30 Monday-Thursday, 8:30-12:30 Friday), or by giving online.
