Pastor Mark's Weekly Update November 14, 2019
Operation Christmas Child – Samaritan’s Purse
Operation Christmas Child is a way to spread Christmas joy to children all over the world, by sending a gift and the good news of Jesus Christ. Pick up the instructions under the TV in the main hall, use a shoe box from home, or one provided by the church, fill it according to instructions, and bring it back to the church. We will collect them until Sunday morning, Nov. 24. You can learn more at this link: Operation Christmas Child.
Notice of Updates
You might have noticed recently that main foyer of the church was painted. The main hallway and adjoining classes are scheduled to be painted in 2020. Please also be aware that the windowsills in the preschool hallway and bed baby’s classroom have been replaced with granite. The playground was expanded, new equipment was added, and new border and mulch was placed around the play areas. Exterior Christmas lights have been added to the main entrance and will be on during the Christmas season. Parking lot and exterior building lights are scheduled to be replaced with LED energy efficient lights. These are just a few of the things that have been happening to the facilities where CHBC gathers to accomplish the mission of equipping believers, exalting Christ, and extending the gospel. Continue to help us maintain our beautiful space for gathering.
World Missions Offering
CHBC funds world missions through budget donations, and through the World Missions Offering. 10% of every offering you make to CHBC is sent to the Cooperative Program of the SBC. This funds missions, seminaries, disaster relief efforts, and many more joint efforts of Baptists around the world. We also support missions by giving to the World Missions Offering. When you designate a gift to the World Missions Offering, every dollar is spent on these specific mission efforts:
- International Mission Board- 45%
- North American Mission Board- 20%
- Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma- 7.5%
- Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children- 7.5%
- MissionQuest- 5% (Doug and Kelly Tomlinson – Thailand Pastor Training and Resources)
- Voice of the Martyrs- 5%
- CHBC Mission Needs -10% (individual and group mission efforts originating with CHBC)
Consider what amount you will give as the year ends. Make a donation through the offering plate, online at the CHBC Giving Page, or in December as part of the Lottie Moon World Missions Offering Post Office.

Thanksgiving Fellowship Meal
The annual church Thanksgiving dinner will go through a few changes this year. There will be no cost this year to attend the meal. The church will provide the meat, bread, drinks, and pecan and pumpkin pie. Church members please bring sides, salads, or additional desserts for the evening meal. Resolved
“Resolved, I will act so as I think I shall judge would have been best, and most prudent, when I come into the future world.” (Edwards, 1723) Edwards is saying that he intends to attempt to live in such a way as he will wish he would have done once he is in heaven. By the power of the Holy Spirit may we have the same thoughts and pursuits in our own lives. We think too little of the place we will be eternally, and with whom we will share that place. Jesus is with us now and will be forever. I am thankful for His grace that led Him to die for my sins, but I do not want to take that gift for granted.
