Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse

This Sunday morning is the last chance to drop off your filled shoe box.  Our student ministry will have lunch, sort the boxes and deliver them to a distribution site to be sent overseas to children in need, and who need to hear the gospel.  If you wonder why we participate in Operation Christmas Child, watch this short video: Alyona’s Story.  You can also click on the header above to see more about Operation Christmas Child.  Instructions are located at the table in the main hallway where you can pick up a box, or drop off your filled boxes.

CHBC Holiday Traditions

Thanks-for-Giving Dinner: If you paid for a reservation for this meal, it will be held this Sunday evening, November 18, 2018, at 5 PM in the Activity Center.  This is a night of fellowship and reflection of thanks for all that God has done through His faithful servants at CHBC.

1 Church in 2 Languages Service: A fairly new tradition for CHBC is having a combined English and Spanish service on the Sunday morning following Thanksgiving. We are grateful to serve the God of all peoples. We look forward to sharing worship together on that Sunday morning (November 25, 2018 at 10:15 AM).

Decorating the Church: The Sunday afternoon following Thanksgiving CHBC comes together to decorate our campus for Christmas.  Following the morning service many will stay around and begin decorating.  Some grab a quick lunch and come back to help decorate and clean up.  This is always a fun afternoon, and it replaces the evening service or Bible Study. (11.25.18)

Power for Kids Musical: Power for Kids is our children’s worship ministry program.  Led by many faithful adults and students, this group works each fall to prepare a Christmas musical for our church and community.  It is their desire to bring a program that will be entertaining and Christ-centered.  This is a great night for you to invite friends and family to come hear about why Jesus came to earth.  The program will be at 5 PM on December 9, 2018.

Adult Choir and Orchestra Christmas Service: Interim Worship Pastor, Dale Griffin, the CHBC Worship Choir, Worship Band, and Orchestra have been preparing for a Christmas night of worship on December 16, 2018.  Join us at 5 PM for our annual Christmas Worship Presentation.  This is always a meaningful night of Christmas music.

Christmas Eve Service: December 24, 2018 at 5 PM.  CHBC’s annual Christmas Eve Service.  Invite your neighbors, friends, and family members to come together for music and Scripture.

Sunday School

Sunday morning at 9 AM each week we have Sunday School.  More than a tradition to us, this is our primary way to connect people to God, to others, and to His mission.  The church is a family of believers who are serving Christ in the same location fulfilling the general purpose of the Great Commission in very specific ways in the context of their community.  Sunday School is a primary vehicle for moving us in that missional exercise.  Sunday School allows us to practice the “one another’s” in a practical way.  Sunday School groups are where you hear about needs, and practice loving your neighbor.  Members of churches who are active in Sunday School develop deeper relationships, are more likely to grow in holiness, and are more likely to continue participating in the local church.  If you are not in a Sunday School group, join one.  If you are already in a Sunday School group, be there Sunday and be actively encouraging of brothers and sisters growing in Christ.

Thanksgiving

Please do not forget to purchase your tickets for the Thanks-for-Giving Dinner.  This is the last Sunday to purchase.  The dinner will be on Nov. 18 at 5 PM.  This is a long standing CHBC tradition.  Tickets are $9 per person or $45 for the family.  You can purchase your tickets in the foyer on Sunday morning before Sunday School, after Sunday School, or after church.  If you will not be present Sunday, please contact the church office at 799-9799 to reserve your seats.  For more information click on this link: Thanksgiving.
