CHBC Connect for April 28, 2023

What is God’s Vision for CHBC?
Our world has been tricked by the enemy to either hold no significant convictions, or to embrace convictions on the wrong issues. That is how Christians are distinct in our culture. Rather than fear that distinction we should embrace it. God has made humans to have convictions. The lack of conviction we see in our world, or the misplaced conviction we see so popular on social media and the major news outlets should not cause Christians to be soft on their convictions, but to fully embrace our Christian convictions and be clear and kind in expressing what we believe. All Christian doctrine should be a part of our convictions. As a church we have determined there are three overarching principles for which we ought to hold convictions: The Church Must Be Biblically-Modeled; The Church Must Be Mission-Minded; and the Church Must Be Multicultural. Future newsletters will briefly address each of these convictions.

Vacation Bible School – June 5-12
CHBC loves VBS! Each year close to 100 volunteers work to provide a week of outreach and discipleship for children from Kindergarten to 6th Grade. VBS begins at 9 AM and ends at Noon each day. You can register to serve or enroll your child online at VBS Sign Up.

CHBC Resource Center
Visit the CHBC Resource Center outside the Worship Center. There are three featured books: The ESV Study Bible; Systematic Theology, by Wayne Grudem; and The Valley of Vision, ed. by Arthur Bennett. Our featured books are for sale and are books that we believe every Christian home should own. There are also several free resources.

Scripture of the Month - April
Titus 2:4-5, “so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.”

During 2023 CHBC will be saying aloud verses from the book of Titus 2. CHBC quotes Scripture aloud during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The goal of 2023 is for you to be able to quote the entire second chapter of the Epistle to Titus. Pick up your Scripture Memory card packs at the Resource Center outside the middle doors of the Worship Center.

DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Pastors equipping believers to do the work of ministry. That is a gift from God to the Church (Eph. 4:11-16). Equipping takes place under pastoral direction in our worship services, in small group Bible studies, and in personal discipleship from members to members. This weekly list are ways our pastors can provide you material with which to be discipled as you disciple. The suggested articles or podcasts are meant to be an entry point for you to explore websites that contain much helpful information.
