Why Does CHBC Exist?
Capitol Hill Baptist Church exists because in 1902 there were about twelve men and women who believed God was calling them to begin a new church located near SW 23rd and Harvey. Capitol Hill Baptist Church exists because for more than 120 years faithful servants of Christ have met, prayed, served, and shared the gospel with the lost of their community. Capitol Hill Baptist Church exists because there is still men and women, boys and girls, teens and students who are living without the knowledge and hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ. CHBC exists to equip believers like you, exalt Christ with one another, and to extend the gospel to our neighbors and the nations, all for the glory of God.

State of the Church Address – January 8 at 10:15 AM
Each year Pastor Mark’s first sermon of the year is a State of the Church Address. This annual sermon is designed to call the church to give special attention to spiritual needs the pastors of CHBC believe are necessary for the coming year. We encourage you to attend this service faithfully and prayerfully, with an expectation of the great things God has for CHBC in 2023.

Scripture of the Month - January
Titus 2:1, “But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.”

During 2023 CHBC will be saying aloud verses from the book of Titus 2. CHBC quotes Scripture aloud during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The goal of 2023 is for you to be able to quote the entire second chapter of the Epistle to Titus.

Discipleship Resources for January 5, 2023

Happy New Year! New things do not happen in your life because a new year begins. New things happen in your life when you are fully connected to the life changing power of the gospel. It is our desire to help you daily engage in what God desires for you. That begins with reading your Bible, having regular times of prayer, and being faithful to the church with your presence, service, and giving. We think these resources will assist you in daily waking in the faith God has called you to through Jesus Christ. Use these for His glory, your good, and the process of discipling others.
