The Mission of CHBC – 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes
The three piers, or non-negotiables, upon which we believe the church is founded are the Centrality of the Scriptures, the Lordship of Christ, and the Glory of God. CHBC is committed to do all that it does grounded in these three facts. The Bible must be the center of all that a church does. It is by the Scriptures that God is revealed. It is through the hearing of the word of God that a person is saved. It is from the Bible that a person is comforted, given wisdom, is sanctified, and is given instruction for faith and life.

We are beginning a new adult Sunday school group on November 6, 2022. This group will be led by Lance and Shawna Nuthman. This is an opportunity for adults of any age who have not been attending Sunday school to start attending or start attending again. This study comes from Lifeway Resources Marks of a Disciple small group Bible study. Come learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Greet and Treat & Love Your Neighbor – October 31
CHBC each year encourages you to use the night that our neighborhoods fill up with Trick or Treaters to engage our neighbors with the love of Jesus. If you have young children take them through our neighborhood that night letting them hand out our Greet and Treat Bags. If your children have grown, make your home a Love Your Neighbor Station. Some people set up games, serve popcorn, serve hot chocolate, or make a fire pit, inviting Trick or Treaters and their families to stop for a moment, rest, and visit as they make their way around the neighborhood. It is an effective way to know your neighbors and give you an opportunity to put a treat in their bag and give them an invitation to join with CHBC for a Sunday of Worship.

Scripture of the Month - October
John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. Receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

Prayer
Encourage one another with the hope of a Sovereign God.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

The Mission of CHBC – 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes
Here is how we want you to remember what God’s purpose is for the church. We believe the Bible teaches that the church is founded upon three piers: the Centrality of the Scriptures; the Lordship of Christ; and the Glory of God. We believe the Bible teaches the church must possess three convictions that form who we are: Biblically-Modeled; Mission-Minded; and Multi-Cultural. Lastly, we believe the Bible clearly states the purposes of the church to be: the Equipping of Believers; the Exaltation of Christ; and the Extending of the Gospel. Understanding our source, our convictions, and our actions is important to being faithful followers of Christ and His Word.

Associate Pastor for Worship Ministries
Please be in prayer as the newly elected search team begins the process for locating a new associate pastor for worship ministries. The committee the church unanimously elected last Sunday night is Angie Baird, Terry Davidson, Ashley Hontz, Steve Lacy, and Don Stephens. These five members have a variety of experience in the life of CHBC, representing a cross-section of ages, membership, and participation in the life of the church. They need our prayers as they seek a candidate on our behalf who will come to serve CHBC in pastoral and worship leadership.

Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies
Discipleship can extend for you beyond the Sunday School. The men and women of our church, including those who are teenagers, are encouraged to check out the men’s and women’s ministry opportunities at CHBC. Check out the website for more information about Men’s Bible Studies and Women’s Bible Studies.

Prayer

Does your faith ever waiver? If ours does, we know others whose faith may be wavering today. Pray for them to trust in the Lord.

Isaiah 26:4

“Trust in the Lord forever, for in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.”
