Hurricane Laura
We are watching as news unfolds related to Hurricane Laura. If there are needs in communities in the path of this latest natural disaster, we will share with you how to give or support partners serving those communities.

Ekklesia – August 30, at 5 PM - Sing and Celebrate Service
The church of Jesus Christ has much to celebrate. Yes, there are challenges in our lives and families right now that we may have not experienced before. But God is still on His throne and is working. Sunday night, August 30 at 5 PM the focus of Ekklesia (The Gathering) will be to allow the church to sing and celebrate who God is and what He is doing.

Midweek Church Family Prayer Gathering – September 2
A few weeks ago, Pastor Mark preached a sermon entitled, “Pray”. You can watch or listen to that sermon here: Matthew 7:7-12, Pray, by Pastor Mark DeMoss. In that message Pastor Mark said that 2020 was God’s call for the church to pray. He challenged the church to be serious about prayer and said that CHBC would be looking for ways to pray for fervently and intentionally. This Wednesday night at 6 PM is one of those times. This church family prayer gathering will be available for any who are not serving or participating in AWANA. There will be signs to point you to the prayer gathering once you arrive on property or enter the building.

AWANA
Mrs. Cheryl Ross and her AWANA Commanders have been working diligently to devise an altered AWANA program to allow a way for our children to return to AWANA. A plan that will take into consideration ways to lower the risk of spreading germs, while still allowing the children to learn the Bible, hear God’s Word, and have interactive game time. The plan is to begin AWANA again on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 6 PM. Pray for the spiritual growth of our children as we try to continue raising future generations to follow Jesus.

CHBC Re-Gathering – August 30, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
Who are these people who gather to worship Jesus? Men, women, young, old, healthy, broken, thriving, and barely surviving. Each of us has a past, and each of us has a story. All who come in repentance and faith have come because of His incredible kindness and love. And now this incredibly diverse group of people are brothers and sisters by adoption into the Family of God. What holds us together? The Holy Spirit, not our commonalities, not our political views, not our views on schools, and not our financial status.
If you gather with us in person please know that we will continue physical distancing and sanitizing protocols, and that you are more than welcome to wear a mask in order to protect others. Please RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP. If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

Church Family Picnic – September 6 at 5 PM
The Family of God needs moments to spend together building their relationships. On Sunday night, September 6 at 5 PM we will continue one of those traditions. We will have a large tent on the north lawn for extra shade as we meet outdoors for a time of fellowship. Please bring a chair, and food for yourself. We will have a brief time of singing and a devotion. The rest of the time will be for you to eat, visit, and allow your children to play at the volleyball court, Gagaball court, baseball field, or soccer fields. Come enjoy sometime with the family!

Quotes from Church History
William Tyndale: “The preaching of God's word is hateful and contrary unto them. Why? For it is impossible to preach Christ, except thou preach against antichrist; that is to say, them which with their false doctrine and violence of sword enforce to quench the true doctrine of Christ.” – William Tyndale (1494-1536, Translated the Greek Bible into English)

Sunday School
Sunday School leaders will be gathering on August 30 at 4 PM in the Worship Center to hear plans related to Re-Grouping for Sunday School. We hope to be able to announce very soon when we can begin having on-campus small groups during Sunday School. The spiritual growth, the community building, and the ministry care that occurs in small groups is essential to healthy church growth. We hope to unfold a comprehensive Re-Grouping plan in the next few days. Until we can meet please reach out to one another, keep telling your unbelieving friends about Christ, and use these materials for your own home group Sunday School. If asked to login, simply create your own account.

Prayer
We show we trust God by prayer. When we are crying out to God in prayer, we are showing our belief in God’s personhood, His ability to hear, His compassion, His omnipresence, and His omnipotence.
Isaiah 26:3
“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You...”
