CHBC Re-Gathering – August 2, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
The church is “a people who gather”. Not just people, but Christian people. Let us be different than the world in the way we differ over politics, and over masks. We are living in a charged environment. Media gives the example of shouting down our opponents. As Christians we have brothers and sisters in Christ, and we have a lost world to win to the gospel. Please be careful in the way you may disagree with others on topics that are clearly very divisive.
OKC has passed an ordinance for masks in public places that includes an exemption for churches conducting in door religious services. We want to remind you of our commitment to continue gathering faithfully and safely. The CHBC staff continues to work to provide opportunities for in person and online ministry and we are looking to take forward steps to have people connected to one another through the church. If you gather with us in person please know that we will continue physical distancing and sanitizing protocols, and that you are more than welcome to wear a mask in order to protect others. We look forward to gathering in person and online this Sunday. Please plan to RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP. And click here to read the CHBC Re-Gathering Plan and Update. If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

Aaron Project
Can you be an Aaron? Aaron in the Bible was known as a disciple that was always bringing people to Jesus. He was quiet, encouraging, and faithful. Today an Aaron is someone who volunteers to pray for one of our area educators. We all know the last school year ended with many challenges. We received many positive testimonies from teachers who had an Aaron praying for them and encouraging them to finish a hard year well. Our teachers need an Aaron this year to encourage them and bring them before Jesus regularly in prayer. Sign up to be an Aaron by going to this link on the CHBC Facebook page: Aaron Project. Quotes from Church History
Augustine: “Let us treat Scripture like Scripture, like God speaking.” – Augustine (354-430, Bishop of Hippo and defender of the faith)

Sunday School
Re-Grouping is the next phase of our Re-Gathering plan, and I wish we knew for sure when and how that will occur. Sunday School is a vital ministry in the life of a local church. The spiritual growth, the community building, and the ministry care that occurs in small groups is essential to healthy church growth. Until we can meet please reach out to one another, keep telling your unbelieving friends about Christ, and use these materials for your own home group Sunday School. If asked to login, simply create your own account.

Prayer
Are your actions toward other believers and toward a lost world reflective of the light of the gospel in you, and of who Christ is and what He has done?
Matthew 5:14-16
“14You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
