Worship at CHBC – A Reminder

The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord. Three piers, three pillars, and three purposes. This is why and how CHBC functions. The Three Piers are: The Glory of God, the Centrality of the Scriptures, and the Lordship of Christ. Jesus Christ is Lord of His church. We recognize His Lordship over our lives by gathering with His body and participating in the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper together. Come Sunday and worship the Lord!

Please remember:

  • Be aware of your own health as you prepare to come to Sunday School and worship
  • Worship with us online if you are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, or other transmissible illnesses
  • While you are present wash your hands, and do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering & The World Missions Offering

You have two ways to support missionaries around the world through CHBC. During December you can give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Make a gift of any amount with a check, cash, or by giving online (choose Lottie Moon in the drop-down window). Make use of the Lottie Moon post office by giving Christmas cards to church family and donating the expense of the stamps to Lottie Moon.

You can also choose to give to The World Missions Offering. This supports International Missions, as well as North American Missions, Voice of the Martyrs, and the Tomlinson’s whose work is primarily in Thailand. Go to this page on the website to give your tithe, or a special offering to missions: Give at CHBC.

Scripture of the Month

Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The Scripture we will say and memorize for the month of November is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”  You can receive a text to your

phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

A Moment in Church History

On November 24, 1836, the ordination of Robert Murray McCheyne to the pastorate of St. Peter’s, Dundee takes place. He will become a leader in the ensuing Scottish revival. He is most known today for his Bible reading plan through the whole Bible, and his devotionals. Prayer

CHBC pray for one another to walk in the Lord daily.

Colossians 2:6-7

“Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”

A Moment in Church History

On November 11, 1620, the pilgrims who eventually end up at Plymouth Plantation gather in the signing of the The Mayflower Compact. The Pilgrims pledge themselves, “solemnly mutually in the presence of God and one another,” to “covenant, and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic.” Learn more about what happened on this date in church history by following this link: Today in Church History.

Prayer

CHBC pray for one another to resist the love of the world.

1 John 2:15-16

“Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”
