Worship at CHBC – A Reminder

The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord. CHBC strives to be mission-minded, biblically modeled, and multicultural on our way to accomplish the vision God has given us. We support the IMB and NAMB, of the Southern Baptist Convention. We support other mission opportunities directly through the World Missions Offering. We pray weekly for an unreached people group in the world. And we seek opportunities to go ourselves to our neighbors and the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church is commanded to gather to worship Jesus. We are also commanded to scatter to tell the world about Him.

Please remember:

  • Be aware of your own health as you prepare to come to Sunday School and worship
  • Worship with us online if you are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, or other transmissible illnesses
  • While you are present wash your hands, and do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth

Midweek Schedule Adjustment

During the week of Fall Break the only midweek ministry at CHBC will be GriefShare, which meets Wednesday night at 6 PM.

Greet and Treat

It is almost October 31, which means one of CHBC’s annual outreach ministries is right around the corner. Plan to walk your neighborhood, knock on doors, and Greet and Treat your neighbors. Or plan to make your home inviting to those trick-or-treaters and bless them with our Greet and Treat bags. Either way we can be in the community and loving our neighbors.

Scripture of the Month

Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The Scripture we will say and memorize for the month of September is Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—”  You can receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

A Moment in Church History

On October 7, 1873, Lottie Moon arrives in China. The missions offering of the SBC for world missions is named after Lottie. She will say, “If I had a thousand lives, I would give them all for the women of China.” Learn more about what happened on this date in church history by following this link: Today in Church History.

Prayer

Pray for one another to thirst for God in our spiritually dry culture.

Psalm 63:1

“O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Worship at CHBC – A Reminder

The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord. We are made to be the reflection of the image of God, which when properly done, brings glory to God. That is why we say the church is a people who exist for the glory of God. We reflect His image when we love Him, trust Him, obey Him, worship Him, and tell others about Him. CHBC exists for the glory of God.

Lessons for Living

On Wednesday nights CHBC is active in ministry and worship. Children are in AWANA, Student Ministry is singing and hearing the Bible be taught by CHBC pastors, and our adults have the opportunity to serve or learn. If you are an adult and not serving in AWANA, please attend Bible Study with our Senior Pastor. His Wednesday night series this fall is called Lessons for Living. Pastor Mark and his wife, Susan, will be combining their efforts to bring theological truth and practical life skills to you in a conversational group setting. There will be a light snack. Lessons for Living is from 6-7:15 in Room 221.

Prayer

Pray that the world can see our love for one another, and that it will approve the things that are excellent. This is how we can be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.

Philippians 1:9-10

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;”
