Vacation Bible School
We have had a great week at VBS. Thank you to Cheryl Ross, our Director of Preschool and Children’s Ministry, Jamie Cusack, Children’s Ministry Intern, and all of the VBS volunteers who shared Jesus’ love with so many children this week.

SON Sport Mission Trip – July 12-14, 5:30 PM-8:30 PM
SON Sport is a localized mission trip for the summer of 2021. CHBC wants to impact our neighbors and the nations. While reaching the nations in a personal way has been harder for the last year, that cannot diminish our reach to our own community. We are asking you to sign up yourself and your family to serve in the SON Sport Mission Trip. On this trip you will sleep in your own home, and all activities will occur at our church. We are inviting our community to bring their children to a free sports camp. We will teach basic levels of baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. We will serve snacks, have devotions, and hear from some Christian professional and college athletes. You can sign up here: SON Sport

CHBC Worship for 6/6/21
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
A few changes have occurred since the OKC Covid-19 mandates have expired. Seating in the CHBC Worship Center has been adjusted slightly. We are offering one section of seating that will be every other row, and where we encourage you to leave a three-chair gap between you and others. The remainder of the Worship Center will have normal seating. We will still be offering overflow viewing of the service in the Choir Suite, where seating is distanced. A face-covering is optional throughout the building.

Sunday School
We anticipate Sunday School classes beginning to meet in normal locations after the renovations from the flood are completed. After an update from the contractors, we plan to resume classes in normal locations beginning June 20, which will be Father’s Day. Thank you for your patience as we await the completion of all repairs, so that our Preschool can return to normal.

We are still providing this Sunday School material for those who are unable to attend in person due to Covid-19: Biblical Theology Lessons and Handout, from the Core Seminars at Capitol Hill Baptist in Washington DC.

Sunday Evening Worship (Ekklesia) for June

Prayer
Pray for one another this week to have hearts of forgiveness, that mimic the heart of Jesus.
Colossians 3:13
“bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.”

A Moment in Church History
On June 3, 1905, Hudson Taylor died. Taylor was the founder of the China Inland Mission. You can read more about Hudson Taylor here: Life of Hudson Taylor.  Learn more about what happened today in church history here: Today in Church History.

Prayer
As you pray for your CHBC family this week, pray that we would be full of gentle answers. The world is already full of harshness. May we be able to turn away wrath, and by doing so gain an opportunity to share with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Proverbs 15:1
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
