CHBC Connect for March 31, 2023

What is God’s Vision for CHBC?
When you see the church logo, or hear CHBC talk about its purpose, you know there is a commitment to global missions. The mandate to take the gospel to the ends of the earth rests in the hands of the local church. We must be intentionally strategic in how we pray, support, and send people to places where people need to hear the gospel. That includes faithfulness to share the gospel in our own homes and neighborhoods. Traveling to a new place will not suddenly transform us into faithful witnesses.

Bunco Night Rescheduled – April 2 at 6 PM
CHBC is having a night to fellowship together following the last week of Equip Classes. Join us for the last session of your Equip Class, then bring a snack to the Activity Center where will have drinks and a time for games and fellowship. Community is built when you choose to be present with the people of God.

Resurrection Celebration Activities

  • Good Friday Service – 5 PM, Friday, April 7
  • Resurrection Sunday Breakfast – 8:30 AM, Sunday, April 9
  • Resurrection Service – 10:15 AM, Sunday, April 9

Worship Through Giving
CHBC worship services include having a time of Worship through Giving. You will still be able to give online, through the Offering Boxes at the doors of the Worship Center, by mail, or by dropping off your offering. But we want to remind ourselves that our giving to the Lord is an act of worship, therefore we want that time during the worship service. Even if you give in a different format, this moment in the service will allow you to consecrate yourself and gifts to the Lord.

Utah Mission Trip – July 7-15
Victory Christian Fellowship is a small Southern Baptist Church in the town of Panguitch, Utah. They have existed for just over thirty years, but recently have struggled to locate a pastor because of the limited amount of housing in this resort area. They are constructing a parsonage, while trying to keep ministry going to the residents and many visitors the area. We will be conducting a 4-day VBS and helping finish the building project during our trip. If you are interested in going on this mission trip, or would just like more information, please stay after church for a few minutes on Sunday, Feb. 5, to receive an information packet. Cost will be between $780-$900/person depending on rooming arrangements.

CHBC Resource Center
New free resources are available at the CHBC Resource Center. Stop by Resource Center outside the main doors to get the ESV Study Bible, or Systematic Theology, 2nd Ed.  by Wayne Grudem, or the other five free resources available at this time. You can take these at no cost, or make a donation for your book to assist the furtherance of the CHBC Resource Center. The CHBC Resource Center exists to provide biblical tools every home should own. There is a payment box at the Resource Center with suggested retail pricing for each available resource. Pay what you can if you can. We want every home equipped with these Bible study tools. Also, pick up your free Scripture Memory pack, preloaded with all the verses for Titus 2.

Scripture of the Month - April
Titus 2:4-5, “so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.”

During 2023 CHBC will be saying aloud verses from the book of Titus 2. CHBC quotes Scripture aloud during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The goal of 2023 is for you to be able to quote the entire second chapter of the Epistle to Titus. Pick up your Scripture Memory card packs at the Resource Center outside the middle doors of the Worship Center.

What is God’s Vision for CHBC?
The ultimate goal of CHBC is to exist for the glory of God as we make disciples who live by the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:36-40) and fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20). We accomplish that goal as we Equip Believers, Exalt Christ, and Extend the Gospel. The follower of Christ should exalt Christ personally and corporately. Christians belong to the body of Christ universally, but should express that belonging by committing to a local church with whom they worship and serve Christ together. Each believer should also be faithfully living a life of personal devotion to the Lord Jesus by reading the Bible, spending time in prayer, faithfully giving, and personally witnessing to others about the gospel.

Equip Classes – March 19 – April 2
Equip Classes will resume on Sunday nights at 5 PM beginning March 19. They will conclude on April 2. Youth and Adults will have five opportunities to be equipped further in Prayer, Evangelism, Service, or Pro-Life Apologetics. Children can participate in PoWer for Kids or attend a discipleship class on the Fruit of the Spirit. For the full list of classes, descriptions, locations, and leaders visit the website at Equip Classes.
