Season of Prayer 2018

If you have not signed up for the Season of Prayer please use this link to do so now: Link to Season of Prayer.  Or go to the website at WWW.CHBCHURCH.ORG and click on the events tab, scroll down to Season of Prayer picture, and click there, then scroll down until you see the place to enter your email address.  I am hoping to have 100 people involved in praying for the next 6 weeks.  After signing up you will receive 6 weekly emails  starting on Monday, July 9.  These will be short prayer guides.  I would encourage you to fast during breakfast or lunch each Monday to read and pray through the guide.  Join us in praying for CHBC, and God’s Kingdom work through us.

Training Up Another Generation of Pastors

This Sunday, Jason Crosby, our Assistant Pastor of Membership and Assimilation will filling the pulpit while I am with our mission team in Guatemala.  We are blessed that God continues to call out from among our congregation those who feel the leadership of the Holy Spirit to pursue ministry as a vocation.  Equipping men to teach and evangelize is a tremendous privilege.  Thank you CHBC for being faithful to do this.  Be present Sunday to encourage Jason as he preaches God’s Word.

           On Sunday night July 22^nd, we will have the opportunity to ordain Ryan Ross to the gospel ministry at 5 PM.  Please be in prayer for Ryan as he completes the work toward ordination.  He and Braelyn will be leaving at the beginning of August to complete Ryan’s seminary education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Guatemala

Pray for our the group of 16 who are traveling to Guatemala to continue working on a church plant in rural Guatemala.  Watch the CHBC Facebook page for updates as we are able to post them.  CHBC is a mission-minded church, and it is a privilege to share in God’s Kingdom work with you.

CHBC Season of Prayer 2018

Last summer we began an annual season of prayer for 6 weeks.  We are beginning this year’s Season of Prayer on July 9.  To participate in the Season of Prayer, you can pick up a prayer sheet near the worship centers on Sundays, or you can sign up to receive a weekly email alert.  To sign up to receive the alert, use this link: CHBC Season of Prayer 2018.  Or click on or copy and paste this URL into your browser: www.chbchurch.org/pray.

Once you have signed up you will receive an email in your inbox each Monday morning.  I would recommend that you select a time on Monday to fast while you use the Season of Prayer Guide, maybe during breakfast or lunch.  Each Monday you will receive the new prayer alert.  Please encourage others in your Sunday School Groups, in your families, and among your friends to sign up for the alerts.  I am hoping we have more than 100 participate in prayer with us for these 6 weeks, beginning on  July 9. 

You can go to the website, click on the Events Tab, and you will see a tile about the 2018 Season of Prayer.  You can click on that tile and it will take you to a page of explanation, and then give you the option to input your email address.  Or, use the link: Season of Prayer 2018.  Let us all join in prayer this summer for CHBC and the Kingdom of God.

Ordination Service

On July 22, 2018 at 5 PM we will be ordaining Ryan Ross to the gospel ministry.  An ordination council is being convened at 3:30 PM on July 22, 2018 to investigate the call and qualification of Ryan.  Ryan has grown up at CHBC, has completed his bachelor’s degree from OBU, has served as an intern or assistant pastor with CHBC for the last 3 years, and will be moving with his wife, Braelyn, to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in August.  We are thrilled to send him out for further preparation for ministry.  A short reception will follow the ordination service in the Activity Center.

Sunday Night, July 1

This week, at 5 PM, we will have a Churchwide Evening Service. That means we will worship in both English and Spanish as our two language groups of our congregation come together for baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and worship.  We will also be praying for and sending out our Guatemalan Mission Team with a time of prayer.  Please join this significant moment as a congregation to live out the spirit of the New Testament in observing ordinances and sending missionaries.
