CHBC Connect for February 17, 2023

What is God’s Vision for CHBC?
The church is founded on three fundamental non-negotiables. We identify these as three piers: The Centrality of the Scriptures, the Lordship of Christ, and the Glory of God. The goal of the Christian life is captured by this verse: Philippians 4:20 Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen. God created the world, made man in His image, called out His own people, sent His Son to die, and will conquer the enemy, and rule eternally all for the praise of His glory. The Christian is to live for this same purpose. A life lived worthy of the gospel, is one lived in pursuit of the glory of God forever.

Equip Classes – Begin Feb. 19
Sunday nights at 5 PM, beginning February 19, CHBC will be offering seven opportunities to equip the church. Youth and Adults will have five opportunities to be equipped further in Prayer, Evangelism, Service, or Pro-Life Apologetics. Children can participate in PoWer for Kids, or attend a discipleship class on the Fruit of the Spirit. For the full list of classes, descriptions, locations, and leaders visit the website at Equip Classes.

Bunko Night – February 26 at 6 PM
Following Equip Classes on February 26 join everyone in the Activity Center to enjoy a night of Bunko. If you have never played this game you will enjoy the way it moves quickly, is played easily, and provides the opportunity for you to meet new people. Bring a snack of some food for you and your family. Drinks will be provided. The time will be from 6-7 PM. Come and enjoy some time of fellowship.

AWANA Grand Prix – March 1 at 5:30 PM
Each year AWANA has held a pinewood derby Grand Prix. Parents and children work on cars and then get to race them during a night of fun and fellowship. There are awards for speed as well as design. Cars must be checked-in according to standard on February 22 at AWANA Club night. Racing will take place on Wednesday, March 1. A snack supper will be served at 5:30 and racing will begin at 6 PM. Come out and support all the children who have a car in the competition.

Bring Spring – Spring Break Missions – March 12-14
Spring Break Missions is a great way to introduce your children to missions and serving. This 2.5 day mission experience will include group times of worship and fellowship, as well as serving needs at CHBC, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, and Kaleo Ministries. Pick up a brochure to learn more about how to use part of your Spring Break for missions. $50/adult and $40/child (4yo – 18).

Utah Mission Trip – July 7-15
Victory Christian Fellowship is a small Southern Baptist Church in the town of Panguitch, Utah. They have existed for just over thirty years, but recently have struggled to locate a pastor because of the limited amount of housing in this resort area. They are constructing a parsonage, while trying to keep ministry going to the residents and many visitors the area. We will be conducting a 4-day VBS and helping finish the building project during our trip. If you are interested in going on this mission trip, or would just like more information, please stay after church for a few minutes on Sunday, Feb. 5, to receive an information packet. Cost will be between $780-$900/person depending on rooming arrangements.

Scripture of the Month - February
Titus 2:2, “Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.”

During 2023 CHBC will be saying aloud verses from the book of Titus 2. CHBC quotes Scripture aloud during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The goal of 2023 is for you to be able to quote the entire second chapter of the Epistle to Titus. Pick up your Scripture Memory card packs at the Resource Center outside the middle doors of the Worship Center.
