Worship at CHBC – A Reminder

The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord. Believers gather to worship. There is not one example in the Bible of believers functioning outside of the organized, gathered body of Christ. Unless providentially hindered, God expects the church to gather in order to worship. We are grateful to be able to corporately and publicly declare Jesus Christ to be Lord.

Please remember:

  • Be aware of your own health as you prepare to come to Sunday School and worship
  • Worship with us online if you are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, or other transmissible illnesses
  • While you are present wash your hands, and do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth

Lessons for Living
On Wednesday nights CHBC is active in ministry and worship. Children are in AWANA, Student Ministry is singing and hearing the Bible be taught by CHBC pastors, and our adults have the opportunity to serve or learn. If you are an adult and not serving in AWANA, please attend Bible Study with our Senior Pastor. His Wednesday night series this fall is called Lessons for Living. Pastor Mark and his wife, Susan, will be combining their efforts to bring theological truth and practical life skills to you in a conversational group setting. There will be a light snack. Lessons for Living is from 6-7:15 in Room 221.

Men’s Breakfast – Saturday, September 11, 8 AM – Activity Center
Join the men of CHBC for fellowship and to find out about the Fall session of Men’s Fraternity.

Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies
CHBC is committed to discipling its members in a variety of ways. Our men’s and women’s Bible studies offer opportunities to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ and with one another. These Bible studies relaunch on September 13 and 14. See the full details at this link: Featured Activities

Scripture of the Month
Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The Scripture we will say and memorize for the month of September is John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’” You can receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

A Moment in Church History
On September 9, 1840, Ko Tha Byu dies. Tha Byu (translated means “younger brother”, was the first convert to Christianity by Baptist missionary Adoniram Judson in Burma. Tha Byu was a nickname Judson gave him. He became an avid evangelist to his people group, the Karen. Prayer
Pray this would be the pursuit of every believer, both young and old, male and female. And pray our church is full of men that are exemplary in this manner.

Titus 2:2

“Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.”
