Discipleship Resources
On March 15 we had our last public and corporate gathering of Sunday School and Worship. By Wednesday, March 18, I had consulted with our pastors, and a group of other spiritual leaders for CHBC, and we had decided to not have gatherings per the advice of health officials from the state of Oklahoma, the Mayor, the Governor, the CDC, and the President. We also agreed that just because we might not be gathering in person did not mean we would not remain committed to making disciples.
This is not a path I would have chosen, but I fully believe it is a path that God has allowed. He is teaching us to be intentional in reaching out to others. He is showing us that the church has a mission to accomplish through each individual member, not just through the programs and activities. He is stretching us to embrace new ways of interacting with one another, and still showing deep and personal concern. He is reminding us that the body of Christ is meant to have communion with Him and one another.
Along with providing materials and resources for Sunday School, continuing with Sunday Morning Worship, and a Sunday evening virtual gathering, we have endeavored to provide you with personal spiritual resources to fill your time in positive ways, and to arm you spiritually for this unusual season of our lives. Today, I want to share this with you:
- A Free Animated Movie of “The Pilgrim’s Progress”
- Ligonier Ministries: A Teaching Series on the Book of Job, by Derek Thomas
- Free book for download from Desiring God: Coronavirus and Christ, by John Piper
- Article from Desiring God: After the Virus Has Passed: Ordinary Life in Light of Eternity, by Scott Hubbard
May these resources be used to encourage you, equip you, and prepare you for life after COVID-19. Until we meet again publicly and corporately. God bless.
By His Grace and For His Glory,
Mark D. DeMoss, Senior Pastor
