CHBC Equipping, Exalting and Extending this Fall

  • Haunt Old Town - Oct. 26
  • Greet and Treat/Love Your Neighbor – Oct. 31, Neighborhood outreach during Halloween
  • ENGAGEnow – A Conference hosted at CHBC focused on engaging the culture with the gospel

CHBC Explore
September 8, 15, 22 at 9 AM in the Conference Room.
CHBC Explore is the membership orientation class for CHBC.  We have the conviction that membership matters.  Because of that conviction we want each member to be fully acquainted with who we are, what we believe, and how to engage in life with CHBC.  As a guest you are invited to see what it means to be a church committed to equipping, exalting and extending for the glory of God.  The next CHBC Explore Classes will begin on September 8 at 9 AM.  The class will occur three consecutive Sundays at 9 AM in the conference room.

Resolved
“Resolved, whenever my feelings begin to appear in the least out of order, when I am conscious of the lease uneasiness within, or the least irregularity without, I will then subject myself to the strictest examination.” (Edwards, 1723) This past week our Connect Group discussed the fact that in the world’s belief system that feelings are the final authority.  The way we feel about something must be what is true. But the Bible warns that our emotions are part of our fallen nature and should be scrutinized. We should heed Jeremiah 17:9 which says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” It is wise to examine oneself when your feelings are out of order, as Edwards says. Perhaps your feelings are being guided by the Lord and should be heeded. Perhaps they are deceiving you of reality and should be put back under the truth of God’s Word. In either case, examination of the heart would be wise. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts;” (Psalm 139:23).
