Pastor Isaias Vargas Announces Retirement
This past Sunday Pastor Isaias made a public announcement to retire from full-time pastoral ministry at CHBC. His last Sunday will be October 25, 2020. Pastor Isaias has served as an associate pastor at CHBC for 6 years focusing his ministry on the Spanish-speaking members of the congregation, developing leaders, organizing Sunday School groups in Spanish, and preaching in the Spanish-speaking worship services.

CHBC will follow the outlined process in our bylaws for searching and calling a replacement for Pastor Isaias’ position. The Personnel Committee has already begun work to secure a Search Committee. That committee is expected to be presented and voted on in the upcoming quarterly Members Meeting expected to be held on the last Sunday of October.

CHBC Re-Gathering – October 4, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.

God created Adam and Eve and commanded them to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. They rebelled in their sin, and God began making a people through their descendant Abraham. They went into captivity, and God drew those people out led by Moses. They wandered in the wilderness because of their sin, but God eventually brought them as tribes into the promised land. They went after the gods of the land, but God made a nation and gave them a king, David, uniting them under Solomon. They rebelled in their sin, and God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to make a people as a new creation and built His church.

He has always been at work gathering His people. His work has been a communal work. He saves us as an individual, but He does not save us to be alone. He redeems us into His covenant community for our mutual sanctification. Cherish the body of believers God has given you to serve and to love. It is His eternal gift.

If you gather with us in person know that we are physically distancing and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering in order to protect others. Please RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP.  If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

Midweek Prayer Gathering – Each Wednesday at 6 PM
Each Wednesday night at 6 PM will be times of prayer. This church family prayer gathering will be available for any who are not serving or participating in AWANA. Join us in room 221 for a time of prayer.

Quotes from Church History
William Carey: “I'm not afraid of failure; I'm afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter.” – William Carey (1761-1834, British Missionary to India)

Prayer
Living for Christ might draw ridicule from the world, but the reward of Christ Himself is worth it. Pray that He will be enough to satisfy you.

Matthew 5:11-12

“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

CHBC,

Take these resources to use for your own growth, but also consider how you could use them in discipling your children, grandchildren, or in meeting with others in a discipleship group.
