CHBC Re-Gathering Plan

A Priority-based and Phased Approach

 Summary of Priorities

Priority 1

Public and Corporate Worship

Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

  1. The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
  2. The first priority for returning toward normal for the local church should be on the public and corporate gathering for worship.
  3. The pastors, and the counsel they have sought, believe it is time to slowly begin the process of gathering together again.
  4. This plan is called the CHBC Re-Gathering Plan.

Priority 2

Sunday School

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

  1. Sunday School is a strategy that allows the church to organize itself into small groups that can focus on three things: teaching the Bible, outreach to unbelievers, and ministry to one another.
  2. As soon as restrictions allow for the people to meet in close proximity to one another we want to begin to utilize this strategy on Sunday mornings again.

 Priority 3

Midweek Activities

Acts 2:42

42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

  1. Historically CHBC has placed an importance on midweek activities for the body of Christ to meet for teaching, fellowship, prayer, and preparation for Sunday worship.
  2. These moments are important and will be incorporated as soon as restrictions allow, and programming plans can be resumed.

CHBC Re-Gathering Plan

A Priority-based and Phased Approach

Details for Priority 1

  2. To hear Pastor Mark preach on this passage and its relation to COVID-19, please follow this link: Obeying the Command to Gather and Avoiding the Pandemic
  3. How will CHBC Re-Gather?
  4. The phased approach has CHBC focusing on Priority 1 for the remainder of May
  5. In other words, morning public worship will begin to resume on Sundays May 17, May 24, and May 31
  6. Facebook Live worship will continue at 10:15 AM uninterrupted during this time and into the future
  7. Morning Worship Services for the remainder of May
  8. There will be three options for public and corporate worship (these are temporary measures to assist with spacing requirements; we will resume one English-speaking worship service and one Spanish-speaking worship service as quickly as possible)
  • 8:30 AM (English-speaking worship)
  • 10:15 AM (English-speaking worship)
  • 12:00 PM (Spanish-speaking worship)
  1. No ETC (nursery) will be provided during any of the three services
  2. Seating in the Worship Center:
  • We will only use every other row of chairs
  • There will be a three-chair gap between family units (a family unit is comprised of the people who live in your home)
  • No masks, gloves, or other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required, but if you feel more comfortable using any PPE’s please do so
  • We will have the rows clearly marked and our deacons will serve as ushers to help you find seating and maintain proper spacing
  1. Attendance:
  • An online RSVP is being requested for the English-speaking services to help us gauge seating and to ensure we are adequately prepared for expected attendance at each service
  • Here is the link to let us know you are coming! RSVP for CHBC Re-Gathering
  • Please register for the 10:15 AM service first if possible, and if it that option is available. Once that service has reached its seating capacity, that option will no longer be available, and only the 8:30 AM Service option will be available. Again the link is: RSVP for CHBC Re-Gathering
  • No RSVP is required for the Spanish-speaking service
  • Those who are 65 years and older, or who are more susceptible to a serious case of COVID-19 are still requested to be Safer-at-Home according to our governor’s plan, OURS (Open Up and Recover Safely). We want to encourage that practice without hesitation, and invite those in these categories to join us on Facebook Live at 10:15 AM
  • Remember that physical distancing suggestions are still in place until the end of May. Please respect that fact while greeting one another, and while entering and exiting the building and worship center
  • Some people will be ready to hug, and others will want to honor the six-foot rule. Please show deference to those who have a desire and perhaps greater reason to be more cautious
  1. Arriving, Parking and Entry
  • Doors to the building and the Worship Center will open 15 minutes prior to the start of each service
  • One of our deacons will open the door when it is time to enter, so plan your travel and arrival accordingly
  • As you enter the worship center music will begin 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the worship service, so please find a seat and begin preparing your heart to engage with those present in worship
  • Deacons will assist you with parking as well. If attending the 8:30 AM service you will be requested to park in the east or south parking lots, and will be asked to enter the East Door (under the canopy). Please exit the same way you enter
  • Attendees to the 10:15 AM service will be asked to park in the north parking lot and overflow into the east parking lot. You will be asked to enter the Main Door (under the church logo facing 134th Street). Please exit the same way you enter
  • This will allow us to help you enter and exit without congestion in the foyer, and will allow us to maintain the physical distancing suggestions
  1. Safety and Sanitizing
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 (dry cough, shortness of breath, or fever) please do not attend
  • Doors will be propped open as much as is reasonable so you can limit the number of door handles you touch
  • If you are more comfortable please wear a mask, gloves, or any other PPE’s
  • Properly supplied restrooms near the worship center will be available
  • Hand sanitizing stations hang on the wall near the doors and the restrooms
  • Our deacons will sanitize all high-touch areas between each service (High-touch areas include door handles, hand-sanitizers, restroom fixtures, etc.)
  • No offering plates will be passed. You may give your tithes and offerings online, by mail, by drop off in the church office, or in our new offering boxes located at each door entering and exiting the worship center (these boxes will be clearly marked, and are locked)
  1. What You Need to Do:
    1. Decide if you feel comfortable attending in person worship
    2. If so, click this link, CHBC Re-Gathering, and RSVP for your preferred service
    3. If not, plan to still join on Facebook Live at 10:15 AM
    4. If attending, arrive about 15 minutes prior to the start of your service and follow the directions of our deacons who will be in the parking lots and near the doors to assist you
