CHBC Connect for November 11, 2022

The Mission of CHBC – 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes
When CHBC speaks about its 3 Pillars, we are really talking about three convictions we hold in regards to how a church successfully functions. We believe the church should be Biblically-Modeled, Mission-Minded, and Multi-Cultural. To be Mission-Minded is to have a clear focus on God and His plan for the church. We believe the church has been given a divine mandate to make disciples of all nations. Therefore, we must keep our focus on those things that further that mission. Biblical worship, sound teaching, ministry to the broken, evangelism, prayer, and faithful giving are not just activities for the church, but missional engagement.

Associate Pastor for Worship Ministries
Continue praying as our search committee collects resumes, reviews candidates, and seeks the Lord on behalf of the church. The work of calling a pastor deserves great attention, serious commitment to prayer, and a sensitivity to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Project Angel Tree
The Women’s Ministry of CHBC is promoting Project Angel Tree. See the tree this Sunday, select a child to sponsor and help minister to a family in our community. Through Project Angel Tree you bless an incarcerated father or mother, as well as blessing the children they have left behind in the care of someone else. Learn more about Project Angel Tree on our website at CHBC.

Marks of a Disciple – New Adult Sunday School Group began November 6
It is not too late to join our new adult Sunday school group. This group is being led by Lance and Shawna Nuthman. This is an opportunity for adults of any age who have not been attending Sunday school to start attending or start attending again. This study comes from Lifeway Resources Marks of a Disciple small group Bible study. Come learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Sunday School Leader Party and Training – Nov. 13 from 4-6 PM
Learn how to have an effective Sunday school fellowship. Get great ideas on planning your Christmas parties. Receive a planning guide for your next fellowship. Have great food. If you are a teacher, director, sub, fellowship coordinator, ministry coordinator, prayer coordinator, secretary, or have any other leadership role in Sunday school, join us in the Choir Suite from 4-6 PM for learning and fellowship.

Serve OBHC – Nov. 17 or Dec. 1
Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children is a ministry to moms and children who are coming out of crisis. As a ministry of Oklahoma Baptists we support this ministry through the Cooperative Program. These moms are given a place to live, counseling, training on life skills, and the chance to start over all in a gospel-centered environment. Skilled and trained administrators work with each mom to learn how to care for themselves and their children. On November 17 and December 1 the moms are given the chance to shop for Christmas in the OBHC Boutique. They just need help with childcare so the moms can shop. If you would be willing to assist on one of those nights please contact Susan DeMoss, Terry Davidson, or Tabitha Moon. If you do not know any of these people, contact the church office at 405-799-9799.

Thanksgiving Fellowship – November 20 at 11:45 AM
This year’s Thanksgiving Fellowship will occur on Sunday, November 20 following the morning worship service. We will enjoy a Thanksgiving potluck luncheon. All are invited. CHBC will be providing the turkey, pie, and drinks. Members, please bring a side dish with you as you arrive for Sunday school groups or worship. There will be space to keep cold food cold, and hot food hot. If you bring something in a crockpot, we will places to keep it plugged in and warm, or casserole dishes can be placed in our warmer.

Scripture of the Month - November
2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. Receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).
