The Mission of CHBC – Mission-Minded

God did not just create the church out of a redeemed people by the cross of Christ. He also gave the church a mission. That mission is to continue to take the message of salvation by faith in Christ alone to every people group in the world. We often refer to the mission of the church as the Great Commission. We have received a command. We must keep that command before us as one of our three core convictions, or as we call them one of the three pillars: Biblically-Modeled; Mission-Minded; and Multi-Cultural.

Platform Remodel

The platform remodel continues to take steps forward toward completion. We are still waiting on foam to be delivered to the manufacturer of the choir risers, and we are awaiting carpet fibers to be shipped to the carpet manufacturer. Thank you for patiently praying with the Building Team as this project is underway.

Scripture of the Month

Isaiah 40:31, “Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. Receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

A Moment in Church History

On May 5, 1910, Alexander Maclaren dies in Edinburgh, Scotland. He had preached from the original languages of the Bible and witnessed deep transformations in the churches he pastored. He had thought his sermons fell short, but posterity will regard them as among the clearest ever published. His commentaries are still widely used by laymen and pastors. Learn more about what happened on this date in church history by following this link: Today in Church History.

Prayer

Use prayer to wage a war for thanksgiving when your heart and mind are anxious. Pray for one another to fight worry with prayers of thanksgiving.

Philippians 4:6-7

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
