Discipleship Resources - December 3, 2020

CHBC,

As December has arrived I am seeing Christmas lights, nativity scenes, and hearing Christmas Carols. I have to admit that I love this time of year! The extra lights, the festive and sentimental music, and the greater amount of simple pleasantries between strangers bring a joy to my heart. But even greater than those things is the cause to reflect more upon the Incarnation. Remembering again that God came to us in the Son as a fully-human person in order to rescue us helps me treasure Christ and the gospel more. The fact that it is heard in the songs, seen in yard displays, placed on greeting cards, and heard in Scripture readings for the whole month keeps me from escaping the genuine hope found only in the gospel. I can only pray that these resources will help you as well.

Wednesday Reminder and Thursday Prayer & Fasting

CHBC,

I want to share two very important things with you:

  1. Tonight is Wednesday, and as we attempt to continue offering our Midweek Services, let us all continue to be reasonably cautious in our group settings, as we also faithfully move forward in accomplishing our mission as a church to equip believers, exalt Christ, and extend the gospel. Be aware that all of our regular Wednesday night services are in place:
    1. AWANA
    2. Midweek Prayer Service
    3. Student Ministry Worship
    4. Worship & Praise Rehearsals
    5. College & Career Bible Study
  2. Governor Stitt has called for a day of prayer and fasting on Thursday, December 3. The focus of this day is to fast and pray for all those who have been affected by COVID-19, and for our frontline healthcare workers. Consider fasting one meal, or all day, to pray for each family who has suffered the death of a loved one due to COVID-19, for the many who have suffered ill health because of this virus, and for all of our own health professionals that are members of CHBC, as well as the thousands of health professionals across our state that continue to serve our communities in very difficult circumstances.
