3 Piers

The church’s primary purpose is to believe and obey the word of God. Knowing, loving, trusting, and obeying God are how we bring Him glory. In essence we exist for the glory of God. We glorify God when we equip His children. We glorify God when we exalt His Son. We glorify God when we evangelize the world. We do what we do in order to glorify His name through obedience to His will, His works, and His word.

God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Piers

There are three foundations upon which the church must be built. We might be able to argue for even more, but there cannot be less than these: The Centrality of the Scripture, The Lordship of Christ, and The Glory of God. Consider what it says in 1 Cor.8:6, “yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.” The church has come about by Him and exists through Him. He is literally the foundation of the church. It would be foolish to attempt to build the ministry of the church with means that would not bring Him honor and would not reflect rightly upon His name. Who Jesus is, what Jesus does, and what Jesus says should guide the motives and the means of the church.
