God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Purposes

God has ordained the purposes for which every church exists. We attempt to capture those purposes in three clear statements: CHBC exists to Equip Believers, Exalt Christ, and Extend the Gospel. Equipping believers involves discipleship in what Christians believe, what kind of person they become, and how they are to live. We say what to know, be, and do. For a believer to be discipled we want them to be in Sunday small groups called Sunday School, attend Worship weekly, be part of weekday Bible studies, have a one on one discipleship opportunity, and be in personal Bible reading. Talk with one of our pastors more if you have questions about your own discipleship.

God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Pillars: Multi-Cultural

CHBC is a church with deep theological commitments. Those commitments are built on the foundations of our three piers and support our three purposes. They can be summarized into these three pillars: CHBC must be Biblically-Modeled, Mission-Minded, and Multi-Cultural. What is culture? Why does it matter if the church is multi-cultural? Is this not just a manmade, social construct? If we are all one race, from Adam, does the Bible recognize different cultures? These are great questions. Pastor Mark addressed much of this in a recent sermon: One Church, Much Diversity, for the Glory of God. You can watch by clicking on the title. In the message Pastor Mark defines culture and shows God’s plan for the nations. Pastor Mark’s conclusion in his message is a church that embraces, loves, and pursues being multi-cultural will: reflect a deeper gospel culture; reflect God’s design for His church; bear witness to the power of the gospel; and will be discipling its members to be more like Jesus.
