God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Piers

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matt. 7:24) Whatever ministries or programs a church builds will only be as strong as the foundation upon which they are built. Like a home, church programming will go through updates, remodels, additions, and removals. But if the foundation is not solid, whatever façade is put up will eventually crumble. A lasting work must be built on the Word of God. That is one of our Piers: The Centrality of the Scriptures. The programs of ministry may be adapted over time, but when they are built on the Word of God, we can be assured they will have eternal results. “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” (Is. 55:11)

God’s Vision for CHBC: 3 Piers, 3 Pillars, and 3 Purposes

3 Piers

Have you visited the ocean and been able to walk out on a pier? You can step out over the water and over the ocean floor because someone has placed large beams of wood down through the water to the earth, and then built a structure on top of it that allows you walk where you would not normally be able to go. Those piers are necessary if you are going to stand out over the water to fish or to see the views. Those piers will not rot as long as they stay wet. Well at CHBC we have three piers that allow us to build the structure of who we are and what we will do. And we keep those piers wet by reminding ourselves regularly of their existence, and their importance. Those three piers are The Centrality of the Scriptures, The Lordship of Christ, and the Glory of God. This is what the church is built upon. And as a church we are able to see God’s glory, and fish for men, because we keep these piers wet with the knowledge of their necessity.

Prayers and Support for Israel

CHBC keep praying for Israel. Find out how we as Baptists can minister to the needs in Israel due to this war from the president of Send Relief, a ministry of the North American and International Mission Boards: You Can Meet Needs in the Holy Land. You can also watch this video of chapel services at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary between Al Mohler, and other faculty: How Should Christians Think About The Attack Upon Israel? You can access a prayer guide produced by the Southern Baptist Convention: 5 Ways to Pray for Israel.
