The Mission of CHBC – The Centrality of the Scriptures

The Bible, or God’s Holy Scripture, is His revelation to us. It is from the Bible that we learn of God, who He is, and what is His will for all of humanity. God’s Word is inspired, or God-breathed. It is not just about God; it is from God. This is not man’s testimony about the importance of the Bible. This is God’s testimony from the Bible about the Bible. This is why we say, the Scriptures must be central to all that it means to be the church.

Labor Day Church Family Picnic – September 4 at 5 PM

One of the annual traditions for fellowship at CHBC is the Labor Day Picnic. This fellowship happens on the south lawn of the church. We have access to volleyball, soccer fields, a baseball field, and lots of space to sit and talk. There is usually a cornhole tournament, disc golf, and a variety of lawn games being played. Please join us for a great night of church family fellowship. The church provides hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. You can bring a side dish, topping, or dessert. Please also bring your favorite lawn chair and yard game.

Oklahoma Baptist Youth Choir – September 18 at 6 PM

On Sunday evening September 18 the Oklahoma Baptist Youth Choir will be in concert at CHBC. We are honored to have three of our young people singing in this wonderful choir that travels across the state of Oklahoma. Please be present to support these young people and be blessed by quality Christian music.

Truth at Home

You may have noticed the large display being built in the Main Hall at the north entrance of our building as you come to the Children and Student wing of the education building. This display is our Truth at Home resource center. CHBC wants to provide families with material to deal with the challenging conversations and changing times of raising children, launching children, and experiencing other life-changing events. These resources are meant to be a starting point to open the door to conversations with pastors, biblical counselors, or others. The resource center is still under construction but will soon be fully functioning and available. Please stop by frequently as the material will be updated regularly.

Scripture of the Month

Matthew 4:19-20, “And He *said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.” Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. Receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

Prayer

This is not a promise to be claimed, but a general principle for which we should aim. Encourage parents as they have the challenging task of training their children to follow the Lord. Pray with those parents for fruit in the lives of those children.

Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
