Love Your Neighbor – August 22
Have you considered using your home for Love Your Neighbor? This is an opportunity for you and your Sunday School class to meet in fellowship with unbelievers and unchurched in your neighborhood. We want to help you invite them and host them at your house for a neighborhood party. Please contact Henry or Keo Chan for details.

CHBC Men’s and Women’s Ministries
An active and vibrant men’s and women’s ministry in the local church does three things. First, it recognizes what creation reveals, that there are two genders who equal in God’s eyes while unique in design, function, and roles. Second, men’s and women’s ministries allow a place for Bible study, fellowship, and accountability to be shared among those who experience the same joys, trials, and temptations that are unique to being male and female. Third, it encourages the unique function and gifts of men and women to be used for the church in a way that blesses the entire family of faith.

Find out more about what is going on in men’s and women’s ministries by visiting their separate pages on the CHBC website: CHBC Men’s Ministry and CHBC Women’s Ministry.

Scripture of the Month
Each week CHBC says aloud a passage of Scripture during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The Scripture we will say and memorize for the month of July is 1 Corinthians 15:57-58, “but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” You can receive a text to your phone with this verse set to music by texting the word “CHBCVERSE” to the number (302) 207-SONG (7664).

A Moment in Church History
On July 25, 306, Constantine is announced as Emperor of Rome by his troops. He converted to Christianity about 6 years later and became instrumental to the end of sanctioned persecution of Christians in Rome. Learn more by following this link: Today in Church History

Prayer
CHBC pray for God’s help to be one who will stimulate others to love and good deeds. Pray to be an encourager to your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Hebrews 10:23-25
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

Pastor Mark's Weekly Update April 16, 2020

Sunday School

Willa Ruth Garlow, long-time member of CHBC who has now gone to be with the Lord, once said about Sunday School, “I was crawling on the ground with the preschooler waiting for the teachable moment.” One thing our safer-at-home Sunday School is showing us is that Sunday School is not a thing we do in a building at a certain time. Sunday School is us being ready to engage with one another as a family or gather with friends even over electronic media and wait for those teachable moments. The CHBC staff is working diligently to keep Sunday School resources in your hands. Thank you, Pastor Isaias, Pastor Jason, Pastor Tyler, and Mrs. Cheryl. Here are your resources for this week:

Prayer

Take 5 minutes right now and pray for the end of the coronavirus COVID-19, for our healthcare professionals, first responders, business owners who have had to close or alter drastically their business, for those who have lost their jobs, for our grocers, for delivery and transportation workers, for our President, for our Governor, for our Mayor, and for those who work in banks, credit unions and other financial institutions.

Give Online

The Mission of CHBC is to be a church that Glorifies God by Equipping Believers, Exalting Christ, and Extending the Gospel. The way we can meet might be interrupted by an unseen virus, but the mission of the church continues. It can only continue if God’s people will continue to be faithful in their giving.   Tithes and offerings can be made by mailing in your check, dropping off your tithe at the church office during normal office hours (8:30-4:30 Monday-Thursday, 8:30-12:30 Friday), or by giving online. You can give online by following this link to the website: CHBC Online Giving. Or click this link, or copy and paste this URL into your web browser: https://my.e360giving.com/App/Giving/chbchurch. If you need assistance with your online gift, please call the church office and someone can assist you.

Quotes from Church History

“What do you feel like when you are sitting in an air-raid shelter and you can hear the bombs dropping round about you, and you know the next bomb may land on you and may be the end of you? That is the test. How do you feel when you are face to face with the ultimate, with the end?” D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981, former pastor Westminster Chapel, London)
