Pastor Mark's Weekly Update February 6, 2020

The Lord’s Supper
Sunday, February 9, during the morning worship gathering, the believers at CHBC will be observing The Lord’s Supper.  We invite all believers who have participated in immersion baptism to join us in the taking of The Lord’s Supper.  The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of remembering Christ’s death on the cross, of proclaiming the gospel, of professing the unity of believers, and of anticipating Christ’s return.  Begin now preparing your heart, soul, and mind for this special moment this Sunday.  Prepare by reading 1 Cor. 11:23-34.

Providence Tours: CHBC

Deadline: Sunday, February 9, is the last day to pay a deposit for Providence Tour: DC

Sixteen people so far have reserved a spot for this trip on the providential hand of God in America’s early government.  Expected final cost will be $1400.

Capitol Hill Baptist Church is intentional about equipping believers about what they should KNOW, who they should BE, and what they should DO.  If you look around the church you will see framed lists of our Know, Be, and Do.  One of the things we want believers to Know is about God’s providence, and a greater understanding of our Christian history.  This is why Pastor Mark is founding Providence Tours: CHBC.  Providence Tours will begin as annual trips to places of historical importance in the life of all believers.  This fall from October 14-19, Pastor Mark and Susan will lead a Providence Tour to Washington DC.  This first tour will include visits to Jamestown, Yorktown, Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, The Bible Museum, The Capital Mall, and The Smithsonian.

Quotes from Church History
““God’s purpose for my life was that I have a passion for God’s glory and that I have a passion for my joy in that glory, and that these two are one passion.”” – Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758, American Puritan Minister)

Quotes from Church History
“Christ’s five wounds kill my suspicions and fears. A crucified Savior is the life of faith and the death of unbelief. Can you view the flowing of the Savior’s precious blood upon the tree of doom and not trust him?” – C.H. Spurgeon (1834-1892, English Baptist Minister)
