Pastor Mark's Weekly Update April 19, 2019

Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday

  • Friday Night at 6 PM – Good Friday Worship Service – spend one hour meditating through music and Scripture on the crucifixion of Jesus. The pinnacle event of human history happened on a hill outside of Jerusalem in AD 30-33. Our salvation was secured on the cross where Jesus died. Nothing deserves our attention or heartfelt worship more than this moment.
  • Sunday Morning at 9 AM – Easter Fellowship Breakfast – invite your family and friends to join you for a pancake breakfast before our Resurrection Worship Service. Enjoy the fellowship of the church body in celebration of new life found in Jesus Christ.
  • Sunday Morning at 10:15 AM – Resurrection Day Worship – let our sorrow turn to joy as we remember once more that Jesus is risen just as He said! The full vindication of His perfect death echoes from the hollowness of the empty tomb.

    Love Your Neighbor
This Summer we are taking our desire to reach and minister to the greater South OKC Metro from our parking lot to our neighborhoods. Jesus gave us a great command, “to love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 22:36-40). We have been asking the question, “What would it look like to do this literally?”. Instead of the Back to School Bash this summer we are asking you to be part of a gospel strategy called Love Your Neighbor. You can find out more by following this link to our website: Love Your Neighbor. Host and Co-hosts have been assigned. They will be asking for others to provide food, canvas neighborhoods, and be on the prayer team. As with all mission efforts it takes the members of the church to go, support, and pray. Every one of us should be doing one or more of these as we attempt the bold move of saturating OKC with the gospel.

    Resolved
“Never to do anything out of revenge,” Jonathan Edwards. Never. Anything. This is a big goal when we think about how many times each day we feel slighted, we feel our rights are interrupted, we act as though we are the center of the universe. Others are not behaving in a way that maximizes our joy or are functioning according to our agenda. “Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord,” (Romans 12:19). Heavenly Father, forgive us for making ourselves out to be more important than others, feeling slighted by the attitudes of actions and others, conscious and unconscious, toward us. Forgive us when with our hearts or our actions we look to make others feel the pain we have been caused. Help us, Father, to extend grace and exercise forgiveness, as we have been forgiven by You.”

A Message from Pastor Mark

CHBC,
How are you serving the body? There are many ways to serve at CHBC for our members. Two ways that have come to mind recently: Sunday morning Greeters or Safety Team.  We are always looking for friendly and hospitable people to help on Sunday’s to make members and guests have a pleasant experience.
Also, we need updated photos for websites, social media, and print material. CHBC needs a dedicated volunteer photographer to get us ongoing candid shots of services, ministries, and special events.
Contact one of the pastors or the church office to express your interest. Let God use you, your gifts, interests and hobbies.
