CHBC Re-Gathering – July 26, 2020

The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.

With a new OKC ordinance in place that includes an exemption for churches conducting in door religious services, we want to remind you of our commitment to continue gathering faithfully and safely. The CHBC staff continues to work to provide opportunities for in person and online ministry and looking to take forward steps to have people connected to one another through the church. If you gather with us in person please know that we will continue physical distancing and sanitizing protocols, and that you are more than welcomed to wear a mask in order to protect others.  We look forward to gathering in person and online this Sunday. Please plan to RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP.  And click here to read the CHBC Re-Gathering Plan and Update.  If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

Neighborhood VBS
Our Children’s Ministry has prepared three Neighborhood VBS outreach opportunities. The focus of these three locations is to reach families who do not already attend church, and/or do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The three locations and times are as follows:

  • Monday and Tuesday Evening – Driveway of Eddie and Georgian Borjas
  • Tuesday Morning – Driveway of Chris and Jennifer Algojeh
  • Wednesday Morning – Commons area of duplexes just south of Taco Bueno on 12th Street

If you would like you or your children to help serve or participate please contact Cheryl Ross, Director of Preschool and Children’s Ministry at or 405-799-9799.

Aaron Project
Can you be an Aaron? Aaron in the Bible was known as a disciple that was always bringing people to Jesus. He was quiet, encouraging, and faithful. Today an Aaron is someone who volunteers to pray for one of our area educators. We all know the last school year ended with many challenges. We received many positive testimonies from teachers who had an Aaron praying for them and encouraging them to finish a hard year well. Our teachers need an Aaron this year to encourage them and bring them before Jesus regularly in prayer. Sign up to be an Aaron by going to this link on the CHBC Facebook page: Aaron Project.  Learn more about RedeemED by following this link to the CHBC Website: RedeemED 2020.

 Quotes from Church History
Athanasius: “The body of the Word, then, being a real human body, in spite of its having been uniquely formed from a virgin, was of itself mortal and, like other bodies, liable to death. But the indwelling of the Word loosed it from this natural liability, so that corruption could not touch it. Thus is happened that two opposite marvels took place at once: the death of all was consummated in the Lord's body; yet, because the Word was in it, death and corruption were in the same act utterly abolished.” – Athanasius (296-373, Bishop of Alexandria and defender of the full deity of Christ against heretics)

Sunday School
Re-Grouping is the next phase of our Re-Gathering plan, and I wish we knew for sure when and how that will occur. Sunday School is a vital ministry in the life of a local church. The spiritual growth, the community building, and the ministry care that occurs in small groups is essential to healthy church growth. Until we can meet please reach out to one another, keep telling your unbelieving friends about Christ, and use these materials for your own home group Sunday School.  If asked to login, simply create your own account.

Wednesdays for Summer 2020
CHBC Midweek Services for June to mid-August. Please join us and invite your friends.

  • Preschool will meet in the Preschool Village
  • Children will meet in the Activity Center
  • Student Ministry Worship in Solomon’s Porch (fellowship activity outdoors)
  • Adults will meet in the Worship Center (Teaching Series: Blueprints for a Biblical Marriage)

Prayer
As you reflect over the deity of Christ and pray for you to know Him and treasure Him more, and for our world to know Him as Savior, pray this passage as worship to Jesus.

Matthew 16:15-17

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

CHBC Re-Gathering July 19, 2020

CHBC,
We continue to monitor all that is taking place in our city and state regarding COVID-19 and any affects that has on gathering for worship. Please continue to use the RSVP method as this helps us prepare for ETC, and any necessary overflow seating. Please also continue using the recommended precautions of staying home if you have symptoms, covering coughs/sneezes, washing hands frequently, and maintaining a physical distance of six feet, and/or wearing a mask if you desire. We look forward to our church gathering for worship on Sunday, and for your ability to join either in person or on Facebook Live at 10 AM for English-speaking worship, and 12 PM for Spanish-speaking worship.

Please see the rest of this email to begin the process of RSVP for AM Worship for July 19, 2020.

Sunday Re-Gathering
Current worship service times for AM Worship are 10 AM for English-speaking worship, and 12 PM for Spanish-speaking worship
CHBC is still honoring physical distancing recommendations
This means we are only being seated on every other row of the Worship Center (rows should be clearly marked)
We are allowing a three-chair gap between family units (a family unit is made up those who live in the same home)
We remind those who are 65 years of age and older, or who are in a higher-risk category to know that our health agencies are still discouraging being in crowded public spaces
Wearing a mask is not required, but is encouraged in crowds where physical distancing is not possible. If you feel you need it for your safety and the safety of others please feel comfortable worshipping with us while wearing a mask
We are sanitizing prior to each gathering
Please be aware that some have reason to be more cautious than others, therefore respect people’s space and convictions
We are using RSVP so that we can have enough seating in the Worship Center and in our overflow rooms, as well as to prepare properly for the number of children who will be in ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years of age and younger)
Please use this link to RSVP: CHBC Re-Gathering for July 19, 2020
If you forget to RSVP you are still welcome to attend, or to bring a guest, just be aware that those who arrive late may need to be seated in overflow.
