The Lord’s Supper
This Sunday during the 10 AM English-speaking service, and the 12 PM Spanish-speaking service we will serve The Lord’s Supper. If you are worshipping from home you may contact the church office by noon on Friday to either stop by to pick up elements so you can participate from home, or to request that the elements be delivered to your home. We desire all of the church body who have professed faith in Christ and been baptized to be able to participate during this very unusual time and circumstance related to COVID-19.

Love Your Neighbor
Sunday night September 27, 2020 at 5 PM several of our members will be using their homes to host a time for their neighbors to gather in their driveway or front yard. The goal is clear: Obey the command of Jesus to love your neighbor as you love yourself. The strategy is simple: Get to know your neighbors so that strangers become friends, and friends can hear how to trust Christ as Savior and Lord. How can you be involved?

  • Be a host home by inviting your neighbors to your home
  • Be a co-host by going to one of the host homes to assist them and getting to know their neighbors with them
  • Be a prayer partner by going to the church at 5 PM on Sunday night to be part of the prayer time during the Love Your Neighbor outreach

If you would like to support disaster relief efforts in Louisiana you can give to the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Team, and read more about their efforts here: SBC Disaster Relief. Or you can give to John Boaz and Lord Send Me Ministries here: Lord Send Me Ministries. Lord Send Me Ministries is also looking for volunteers to come help prepare and pass out food. John and LSMM helped with the Back to School Bash for many years, as well as came to OKC in 2013 to do tornado disaster relief. They have been a good partner to CHBC and will be doing disaster relief ministry in Louisiana.

CHBC Re-Gathering – September 27, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.

Do not go to church but be the church! We believe in the church gathering publicly and corporately each week for praise, prayer, preaching, and participating in the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. But the church is not a location we go to. The church is the people who gather for biblical worship, and then live daily as the church to one another and the lost world around them. So, this Sunday gather for worship at 304 SW 134th Street in OKC, or online with that gathering, but do it because you are the church, not because you are going to church.

If you gather with us in person know that we are physically distancing and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering in order to protect others. Please RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP.  If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

Midweek Prayer Gathering – Each Wednesday at 6 PM
Each Wednesday night at 6 PM will be times of prayer. This church family prayer gathering will be available for any who are not serving or participating in AWANA. Join us in room 221 for a time of prayer.

Quotes from Church History
Augustine of Hippo: “Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.” – Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD, Bishop of Hippo and defender of Orthodoxy)

Prayer

Pray that you will have the endurance to do the will of God for you today.

Hebrews 10:35-36

“Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.”

CHBC Re-Gathering – September 13, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.

CHBC is committed to Equip the Saints to the glory of God. The church was given the task to make disciples, teaching them to observe everything Jesus commands (Matthew 28:18-20). Teaching is a function that the church must be about. Health, unified churches are built on sound doctrine. We are grateful for the opportunity to begin Re-Grouping into Sunday School for all ages this week. Look above to find a link on the CHBC Re-Grouping Plan.

If you gather with us in person please know that we will continue physical distancing and sanitizing protocols, and that you are more than welcome to wear a face covering in order to protect others. Ekklesia – September 13, at 5 PM  Sing and Celebrate
We received so many positive comments about our Sing and Celebrate Service a couple of weeks ago that we will join together again this Sunday night to celebrate what God is doing in our lives. If you are able please join us for a night for the church to celebrate who God is and what He has done.

Midweek Prayer Gathering – Each Wednesday at 6 PM
A few weeks ago, Pastor Mark preached a sermon entitled, “Pray”. You can watch olisten to that sermon here: Matthew 7:7-12, Pray, by Pastor Mark DeMoss. In that message Pastor Mark said that 2020 was God’s call for the church to pray. He challenged the church to be serious about prayer and said that CHBC would be looking for ways to pray for fervently and intentionally. Each Wednesday night at 6 PM will be times of prayer. This church family prayer gathering will be available for any who are not serving or participating in AWANA. Join us in room 221 for a time of prayer.

Quotes from Church History
Martyn Lloyd-Jones:“Our Lord does not promise to change life for us; He does not promise to remove difficulties and trials and problems and tribulations; He does not say that He is going to cut out all the thorns and leave the roses with their wonderful perfume. No; He faces life realistically, and tells us that these are things to which the flesh is heir, and which are bound to come. But He assures us that we can so know Him that, whatever happens, we need never be frightened, we need never be alarmed.”– D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981, Pastor from London)

Prayer
To what do we cling when we see the tragedies of life come upon us? Promises like this one found in Isaiah.
Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age I will be the same, and even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; and I will bear you and I will deliver you.
