CHBC Re-Gathering – July 19, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
Yet, the building is important! A building or a location for the people of God to gather is important. The church is not the building, but the people are meant to gather. While many are not able currently to gather publicly and corporately, we are grateful we still have a place to gather into. We look forward to gathering in person and online this Sunday. Please plan to RSVP, especially if you will be using ETC (Extended Teaching Care for 3 years and younger). The RSVP helps us be prepared for overflow seating, for children in ETC, and for seating in the Worship Center. Thank you for understanding the need to physically distance and to RSVP. Click the link to go the CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP page on the website: CHBC Re-Gathering RSVP. And click here to read the CHBC Re-Gathering Plan and Update. If you forget to RSVP or you meet someone you want to invite to worship with us, please still attend and do not worry about telling them how to RSVP. We will accommodate everyone either in the main Worship Center or in our overflow rooms.

VBS
We continue to pray and seek the Lord on how VBS can be within our neighborhoods near our location. Pray circumstances will allow us the opportunity to share Christ within our neighborhoods in these ways. Cheryl Ross, the Preschool and Children’s Ministry Director, is working very hard with her staff to provide locations for a Neighborhood VBS experience. An abbreviated schedule will be used. The dates are July 27-29. If you would be interested in hosting or assisting please contact Cheryl Ross at , or by calling the church office at 405-799-9799.

Aaron Project
Can you be an Aaron? Aaron in the Bible was known as a disciple that was always bringing people to Jesus. He was quiet, encouraging, and faithful. Today an Aaron is someone who volunteers to pray for one of our area educators. We all know the last school year ended with many challenges. We received many positive testimonies from teachers who had an Aaron praying for them and encouraging them to finish a hard year well. Our teachers need an Aaron this year to encourage them and bring them before Jesus regularly in prayer. Sign up to be an Aaron by going to this link on the CHBC Facebook page: Aaron Project. Quotes from Church History
Martin Bucer: “For where God is not recognized and obedience to Him is not required before all things, there peace is not peace, justice is not justice, and that which should be profitable brings injury instead.”” – Martin Bucer (1491-1551, Reformer and Pastor in Switzerland and Germany)

Sunday School
Re-Grouping is the next phase of our Re-Gathering plan, and I wish we knew for sure when and how that will occur. Sunday School is a vital ministry in the life of a local church. The spiritual growth, the community building, and the ministry care that occurs in small groups is essential to healthy church growth. Until we can meet please reach out to one another, keep telling your unbelieving friends about Christ, and use these materials for your own home group Sunday School. If asked to login, simply create your own account.

CHBC Re-Gathering – July 12, 2020
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
A people who gather! CHBC has been gathering publicly and corporately since 1902. Today that gathering looks slightly different as we meet in person and on Facebook Live, and as we do so at two times in two languages. But the church know as CHBC is gathering and will gather this Sunday, July 12, 2020. Quotes from Church History
Charles Octavius Boothe: “What a power the believers in Christ will be in this world, where such multitudes are hateful and hating one another, when they all come to abound in deep, pure, fervent love to God and to their neighbors! How they will be stimulated to labor and give and pray for the gathering of every creature in the world into the fold of Christ, when they love God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, “with all their heart, and soul, and might, and mind, and strength,” and really and truly love their neighbor as themselves! An increase of such love will be accompanied by a vast increase of missionary zeal and enterprise; and not long would it be before there will be, “Great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15)” – Charles Octavius Boothe (1845-1924, Former Slave and Baptist Pastor)

Prayer
For what do you pray? No matter what it is you are praying now, focus your prayer on the One to Whom you pray.
Eph. 3:20-21
“ Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
