Capitol Hill Baptist Church Weekly January 29, 2021
Bring Spring
Family Missions and Ministry has been a regular part of the way CHBC trains the next generation to love Christ and His church. Spring Break has been one of the opportunities each year that we encourage moms, dads, and their children to do ministry or missions together. Our decade of trips to Voice of the Martyrs has had an immeasurable influence on our families. Unfortunately, VOM is still not allowing group volunteers because of COVID.
But Bring Spring is our new emphasis for missions and ministry this Spring Break. Come to the informational meeting following the morning worship service at 10 AM to receive further information, or contact the church office, a staff member, or Susan DeMoss, the coordinator of the Missions Team. Bring Spring will occur in the evenings on March 14-16. These nights include church fellowship, ministry at an assisted living center, and a college campus. We want to bless our community and learn to serve together.

CHBC Worship for 1/31/21
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
There are three pillars upon which the purpose of CHBC stands. Our goals to equip believers, exalt Christ, and extend the gospel rest upon three convictions: to be Biblically-Modeled, to be Mission-Minded, and to be Multi-Cultural. The second of these of these three convictions is to be Mission-Minded. The outward thrust of the church was set by Christ in the giving of the Great Commission, and in His last instructions in the book of Acts prior to ascending into Heaven. The church is to be the people from whom the gospel reaches the ends of the earth. Approximately 151,000 people die each day around the world. How many of them have even had the chance to hear about Jesus Christ? The purpose of our church to equip, exalt, and extend would be meaningless if not undergirded by the thrust of seeing the unreached of our neighbors and the nations hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
Even in these strange days we want to stay central to our mission. We must not allow circumstances to rob us of our convictions. As we gather again for worship this Lord’s Day may it be to recommit ourselves to the ways of God and the work of God.
If you are not able to attend in person, then join us for our worship service by live stream through the CHBC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/chbcokc/. We are also providing seating in the Activity Center for Sunday School and Worship services, and we are asking that any who attend in the Activity Center wear a face covering.
We are continuing to seat by physically distancing (seating every other row and leaving a 3-chair gap between family units, as well as taking extra steps in cleaning and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering at all times. We are also providing our overflow seating in the Activity Center where we ask that all participants wear a face covering during the duration of the service.
Adult Mid-week Service: Generational Reproducers of the Faith
Psalm 145:4, “One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.” When we declare something, we are generally passionate about that for which we speak. Our passion is evidence of a conviction. This past Wednesday night we discussed how we develop a passion for seeing our friends, our spouse, or our children encouraged toward qualities of Christlikeness. We read from Titus 2, sang, prayed, and encouraged one another. If you do not serve in AWANA, or the Student Ministry come find dynamic community with others who want to be generational reproducers.
Sunday School
There are Sunday School Classes currently meeting in person at CHBC. We are also providing material for you to use at home if you are unable to attend an in-person small group. Some of the locations of classes have changed, so please check with the teacher, a greeter, or a staff member if you are confused about where your class may meet. We have adjusted our rooms so that physical distancing can be maintained within each class setting. Please let us know if you would like a print version of the Lifeway curriculum from your Sunday School class for home use. Below is a printable version of a series from Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC.

Quotes from Church History
Hudson Taylor: “I am no longer anxious about anything, as I realize that He is able to carry out His will for me. It does not matter where He places me, or how. That is for Him to consider, not me, for in the easiest positions He will give me grace, and in the most difficult ones His grace is sufficient.” – Hudson Taylor (1832-1905 British Missionary to China, and founder of the China Inland Mission)
