Sanctity of Human Life Sunday
This Sunday, January 17, we have the opportunity to see the Mobile Pregnancy Center Unit that is operated by Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, and Hope Pregnancy Centers. This unit will be on our property Sunday morning for you to tour before and after Worship. We will also hear a brief testimony from Kathy Gibson, the mobile unit ministry director for Hope Pregnancy Centers. This is a way for us to support the fight for the ending of abortion, and healing for those who carry post-abortive emotional and spiritual wounds.
Generational Reproducers of the Faith
When we think about our own part in the call of the church to proclaim the mighty acts of God to the next generation, it can be a bit overwhelming. If you are like many, you begin to reflect on your own failures, or how insignificant your own contributions seem. You may wonder, “why would others younger than me want to follow in my footsteps of faith?” Pastor Mark and his wife, Susan, discussed that this past Wednesday night. They reminded the group of God’s grace in our failures, and of the truth that God does not leave us alone in our little bag of resources, but through the Spirit equips us to accomplish the task of giving a vital faith away to the next generation.

CHBC Worship for 1/17/21
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
The purpose of CHBC stands on top of a necessary foundation. Pastor Mark calls these the Piers of CHBC. Those three piers are The Glory of God, The Centrality of Scripture, and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. If the church operates apart from this foundation, then the actions and activities of the church are no different than a civic club. The church is the family of God founded by Him for His purposes, through Jesus Christ, and guided by the Holy Scriptures. This is why we gather, and why we desire to bring others into the household of God.
If you are not able to attend in person, then join us for our worship service by live stream through the CHBC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/chbcokc/. We are also providing seating in the Activity Center for Sunday School and Worship services, and we are asking that any who attend in the Activity Center wear a face covering.
We are continuing to seat by physically distancing (seating every other row and leaving a 3-chair gap between family units, as well as taking extra steps in cleaning and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering at all times. We are also providing our overflow seating in the Activity Center where we ask that all participants wear a face covering during the duration of the service.
Sunday School
There are Sunday School Classes currently meeting in person at CHBC. We are also providing material for you to use at home if you are unable to attend an in-person small group. Some of the locations of classes have changed, so please check with the teacher, a greeter, or a staff member if you are confused about where your class may meet. We have adjusted our rooms so that physical distancing can be maintained within each class setting. Please let us know if you would like a print version of the Lifeway curriculum from your Sunday School class for home use. Below is a printable version of a series from Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC.

Quotes from Church History
Martyn Lloyd-Jones: “Our Lord does not promise to change life for us; He does not promise to remove difficulties and trials and problems and tribulations; He does not say that He is going to cut out all the thorns and leave the roses with their wonderful perfume. No; He faces life realistically, and tells us that these are things to which the flesh is heir, and which are bound to come. But He assures us that we can so know Him that, whatever happens, we need never be frightened, we need never be alarmed.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981 Welsh Ministry, and pastor of Westminster Chapel of London for 30 years)

Prayer
Pray for our nation. There is so much hate. As believers we must walk in love. Pray for people to come to faith in Christ and begin to walk in love with us.
1 John 4:20-21
“If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.”
Mark D. DeMoss, Senior Pastor
