CHBC Connect for February 3, 2023

What is God’s Vision for CHBC?
The church is founded on three fundamental non-negotiables. We identify these as three piers: The Centrality of the Scriptures, the Lordship of Christ, and the Glory of God. God has existed from eternity past. Psalm 90:2, “Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” And God chose to make Himself known to His creation through the text of the Bible. We cannot know God apart from knowing what the Bible says. Therefore, if the church is to worship and serve God, the Bible must be central to our personal lives, and to our worship.

Utah Mission Trip – July 7-15
Victory Christian Fellowship is a small Southern Baptist Church in the town of Panguitch, Utah. They have existed for just over thirty years, but recently have struggled to locate a pastor because of the limited amount of housing in this resort area. They are constructing a parsonage, while trying to keep ministry going to the residents and many visitors the area. We will be conducting a 4-day VBS and helping finish the building project during our trip. If you are interested in going on this mission trip, or would just like more information, please stay after church for a few minutes on Sunday, Feb. 5, to receive an information packet. Cost will be between $780-$900/person depending on rooming arrangements.

CHBC Resource Center
Stop by the updated Resource Center outside the main doors to get the ESV Study Bible, or Systematic Theology, 2nd Ed.  by Wayne Grudem. The CHBC Resource Center exists to provide biblical tools every home should own. There is a payment box at the Resource Center with suggested retail pricing for each available resource. Pay what you can if you can. We want every home equipped with these Bible study tools. Also, pick up your free Scripture Memory pack, preloaded with all the verses for Titus 2.

Scripture of the Month - January
Pick up your Scripture Memory card packs at the Resource Center outside the middle doors of the Worship Center.

Titus 2:1, “But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.”

During 2023 CHBC will be saying aloud verses from the book of Titus 2. CHBC quotes Scripture aloud during our morning worship gathering. This is done for two reasons. First, we are commanded in Scripture to encourage one another with the Word of God. Second, we want to emphasize the spiritual discipline of Scripture memory. The goal of 2023 is for you to be able to quote the entire second chapter of the Epistle to Titus.

Why Does CHBC Exist? To Extend the Gospel
Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” The local church is responsible for gospel extension. That does not mean the church is responsible for a program of evangelism and missions. It does mean that each individual member of the body is responsible for sharing the gospel with people on a regular basis. The church exists to extend the gospel to neighbors and the nations.

Lord’s Supper on January 29, 2023 – AM Worship
Baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ look forward to proclaiming their union with Christ and one another as we worship together through the Lord’s Supper. CHBC enjoys the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper every other month in obedience to Christ’s command, and as a way to proclaim our faith in the gospel together. Do not miss this worshipful time in the life of the church. Faithful believers will want to gather on the day of the Lord’s Supper.

Brady and Marta have secured housing, and are making plans to begin their ministry with CHBC on February 1. Please be warm and welcoming as they arrive. Pray for fruit in his pastoral care to the church body, and his oversight of worship ministries.
