CHBC Worship for 1/24/21
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
There are three pillars upon which the purpose of CHBC stands. Our goals to equip believers, exalt Christ, and extend the gospel rest upon three convictions: to be Biblically-Modeled, to be Mission-Minded, and to be Multi-Cultural. The first of these three convictions is to be Biblically-Modeled. You do not reach spiritual ends with worldly means. We want to equip, exalt, and extend based upon the precepts and principles of the Bible, the life of Christ, and the patterns of the New Testament church. To remove this pillar would undermine the integrity of what it means to be a church.
Even in these strange days we want to stay central to our mission. We must not allow circumstances to rob us of our convictions. As we gather again for worship this Lord’s Day may it be to recommit ourselves to the ways of God and the work of God.
If you are not able to attend in person, then join us for our worship service by live stream through the CHBC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/chbcokc/. We are also providing seating in the Activity Center for Sunday School and Worship services, and we are asking that any who attend in the Activity Center wear a face covering.
We are continuing to seat by physically distancing (seating every other row and leaving a 3-chair gap between family units, as well as taking extra steps in cleaning and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering at all times. We are also providing our overflow seating in the Activity Center where we ask that all participants wear a face covering during the duration of the service.
Adult Mid-week Service: Generational Reproducers of the Faith
Psalm 145:4, “One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.” This past Wednesday night Pastor Mark asked those in attendance to recount some of the mighty acts of God. The group heard testimony from Scripture and from personal stories of seeing God’s mighty and faithful hand. When we are reminded of the God’s mighty acts it fuels our praise. Our praise of God’s work in our homes and in our church helps our children believe God is real. If you do not serve in AWANA or assist in the Student Ministry, please join us on Wednesdays in Room 221 as Pastor Mark and his wife, Susan, equip us to be champions of generational reproducers of the faith.
There are Sunday School Classes currently meeting in person at CHBC. We are also providing material for you to use at home if you are unable to attend an in-person small group. Some of the locations of classes have changed, so please check with the teacher, a greeter, or a staff member if you are confused about where your class may meet. We have adjusted our rooms so that physical distancing can be maintained within each class setting. Please let us know if you would like a print version of the Lifeway curriculum from your Sunday School class for home use. Below is a printable version of a series from Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC.

Quotes from Church History
Amy Carmichael: “If the praise of others elates me and their blame depresses me; if I cannot rest under misunderstanding without defending myself; if I love to be loved more than to love, to be served more than to serve, then I know nothing of Calvary love." – Amy Carmichael (1867-1951 born in Ireland, and missionary to India for over 50 years)

Church, pray for one another today! Pray that your brothers and sisters in Christ would not sow to their flesh, but sow to the Spirit. Pray that we each invest more time, energy, and concern for God and His Kingdom than we do in this present world.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
Mark D. DeMoss, Senior Pastor
